Is it stange? The architects that work in our office, they also create the structural elements, after they adapt their thickness in relation to dimension that engineers say. Yes the architects have also create the structural elements (for example, concrete walls + layer of insulation + etc. So you are in charge to model the structure, but the architects already did it? I don't get this! Why are you editing the architects model?, you are in charge of the structure so AFAIK you don't need to do that!! If you delete the doors the openings will be deleted automatically cause they are created as a opening inside the family, so you need to start to think how the doors and windows can work without to be hosted into a wall!, my advise is to talk with the architect and ask him to model the openings as a openings and to place the doors (which must be modeled as a non hosted elements) that way you'll have the openings separated from the doors! You have a lot of warnings cos you've bind the ifc model!! so once again don't do that!! Yes the IFC is a reference, it is done for that, use it as a guide to model your structural elements!!īinding the ifc is a very bad idea, don't do that!, that will populate your project with a lot of undesirable things, and that will make your project unstable Thank you in advance! So you are in charge to model the structure, but the architects already did it? I don't get this! What we should do? How we should work in this case? These are some of the problems that I found. The corner of walls are not connected. It means that we need to edit all the walls in order to keep only the structural parts. The architects have modeled their walls as one so structural and architectual layers are all together in one wall. Also when I delete the doors and windows the opening also deleted.not cutting anything", and the only option that I have is to delete the instances. I got a lot of warnings and errors like "can't cut instance of WD.out of wall" or "Instances of WD.Even if I Bind the link, I cannot edit the structural elements (walls, floors etc) >When I link the ifc in Revit, it is just a reference. We want to avoid to re-design them as it is much work to be done. We are tying to figure out how we can import the ArchiCAD model to Revit and to preserve the stuctural elements. Now we want to use Revit as the design software for the structural part.

We did the pre-sizing using SCIA Enginneer. The Architects have alrealdy started the first phase of the project in ArchiCAD. We have a big building complexe project and we are responsible for the structural part.
